Traffic-Ready Pothole Repair

Traffic-ready means the patch can carry vehicles the moment compaction is complete. No cure window, no closure period, no return visit to remove protection. For live-traffic roads, drive-throughs, port aprons and busy commercial sites, that's the operational difference between a 15-minute job and a half-day operation.

Road Solutions AUS cold-mix is engineered traffic-ready across every grade. The polymer binder activates under compaction, not over time, so the patch is fully load-bearing the moment the compaction tool comes off it.

How traffic-ready bonding works

Compaction activates the polymer binder, locks the aggregate matrix together, and bonds the patch to the pavement around it. The first tyre over the patch continues the consolidation rather than damaging the fresh bond. That's the technical basis for the 'traffic-ready' claim.

Application sequence for traffic-ready use

Clear loose debris from the void, pour the cold-mix from the bag, overfill by ~10 mm, compact with a vibratory plate, hand tamp or vehicle tyre. Reopen to traffic immediately. The patch is fully load-bearing from that moment.

For highway and heavy-axle environments, allow 24–48 hours before line marking paint to allow any surface binder migration to complete.

Cone-off and traffic management

Because the cure window is zero, traffic management is reduced to whatever's required for the application itself. Cone off the patch, complete the work, remove the cones. There's no holding closure for cure time.

For multi-pothole patrol work on a road network, that means an operator can complete 10–15 callouts in a day across a wide area.

Best grades for traffic-ready work

7 Gauge for general live-traffic road work, 10 Gauge for highways and heavy traffic, 5 Gauge for fine finishes on customer-facing pavement. Every grade is equally traffic-ready — the choice is driven by load class and finish requirement.
