Overview

About 5 Gauge Mix

5 Gauge Mix is a ready-to-use bituminous mixture manufactured from aggregates and a co-polymer. It creates a tenacious bonding material for permanent use and repairs. When the curing compound is struck by a heavy object — or subjected to the pressure of a foot on its surface — it bonds to asphalt, concrete, steel and especially wood.

Asphalt in a Bag is a patented mix of crushed recycled asphalt and water that can be applied in all weather conditions to patch potholes. The adhesive can be applied at -26 °C without compromising its performance when the temperature reaches 49 °C.

Asphalt in a Bag permanent cold patch, when applied according to manufacturer's specifications on failed or damaged areas, will adhere permanently to the repaired area — or until the surrounding pavement fails. If you have asphalt on your driveway, side walk or other places, the asphalt may deteriorate for various reasons. If Asphalt in a Bag ever unravels or releases from the repair, we will replace the asphalt without any service charge.

Asphalt in a Bag is an effective means of performing road and pothole repairs, available in convenient sizes. With one 20 kg bag of Permanent Cold Patch you can cover approximately half a square metre of asphalt at 22 mm thickness. Tack coat does not need to be allowed to dry for a long period of time before being driven upon. This is a premium-quality product suitable for use in all applications.

Premium Performance
High Performance

A premium-grade product suitable for all-purpose usage. Distinguished by the amount of "fines" it contains — 87% fines (cone-dust powder sand) that fill the gaps between the gravel for a tight, dense, easy-to-work finish.

Not graded — predominantly made up of 7 mm aggregate with 40% fines. A coarser, structural mix for heavier-duty repair work.

How to apply

Simple, repeatable, permanent.

  1. 1

Clear loose debris, vegetation and standing water from the failed or damaged area.

  2. 2

Pour 5 Gauge Mix straight from the bag or bucket into the void.

  3. 3

Overfill by approximately 10 mm to allow for compaction.

  4. 4

Compact with a hand tamp, roller or vehicle tyre — impact activates the curing compound.

  5. 5

Open to traffic immediately. The tack coat does not need a long dry time.

Tip: keep unused product sealed in its bag or bucket — 12-month shelf life when stored out of direct sunlight.
