High-Performance Pothole Repair Products

High-performance pothole repair products are engineered for the hardest jobs: heavy traffic, extreme weather, fast turnaround, demanding clients. The chemistry, the aggregate grading and the polymer loading all step up together to deliver patches that bond instantly, resist deformation under load and last as long as the surrounding pavement.

Road Solutions AUS High Performance grade is the trade specification used by contractors and crews who can't afford a failure. This page covers what High Performance means in spec terms, when to choose it over Premium Performance, and how the Australian-made formulation outperforms imported alternatives.

What 'high performance' actually delivers

High Performance describes a specific blend within the Road Solutions AUS cold-mix range: predominantly 7 mm aggregate with around 40% fines, producing a coarser, more structural patch than the Premium Performance variant. The chemistry is the same proven polymer-modified binder; the difference is in the aggregate gradation.

That coarser blend gives better load transfer, more aggregate interlock and better resistance to rutting in heavy traffic and summer heat. Use High Performance whenever the repair is going to take real load — arterial roads, freight corridors, bus stops, heavy industrial pavement, or any patch you want to outlast the surrounding surface.

Premium Performance vs High Performance

Premium Performance contains 87% fines (cone-dust powder sand) for a tight, smooth visual finish — ideal for fine repairs on driveways, footpaths and customer-facing forecourts. High Performance contains 40% fines and predominantly 7 mm aggregate for structural strength — ideal for trafficked surfaces where load resistance matters more than appearance.

Most professional crews carry both, switching by repair type. Premium for visible, fine finishes; High Performance for structural durability. The pack and binder are identical — the difference is the aggregate blend.

Why polymer-modified binder is the high-performance ingredient

Conventional bitumen emulsion binders work at low temperature but lack the elastic recovery needed under heavy load. Polymer-modified binders add an elastomer fraction that gives the patch the ability to flex under load and recover its shape — the same principle behind polymer-modified hot-mix used on motorways.

Road Solutions AUS High Performance cold-mix is polymer-modified to a spec designed for Australian conditions: high UV, wide temperature swings, heavy axle loads on long freight routes. That is the technical reason it outperforms imported emulsion-only products on rut and shear.

Application — same speed, more durability

High Performance applies the same way as every other cold-mix in the range. Clear the void, pour from the bag, overfill by 10 mm, compact. The only field-relevant difference is that the coarser aggregate benefits from a vibratory plate or roller rather than a hand tamp for full compaction — hand-tamping a structural patch will under-compact.

Reopen to traffic immediately. The first hour of traffic continues the consolidation and locks the patch in.

When to specify High Performance

Specify High Performance for: arterial and main road repairs, bus stops and bus depots, freight and B-double routes, mine site haul roads, industrial pavement and forklift areas, port aprons, fuel station forecourts and any patch you expect to take heavy axle loads for years.

For domestic driveways, light commercial car parks and pedestrian footpaths, Premium Performance gives a finer visual finish and is the better choice.

Bulk supply for high-throughput crews

Crews running high-volume maintenance contracts typically order High Performance in pallet quantities on standing order. Same-day dispatch on stock items from the Northgate facility, freight quoted to anywhere in Australia, trade accounts with invoiced terms.
