What Is Asphalt in a Bag?

The product in one paragraph

Asphalt in a Bag is polymer-modified cold mix asphalt — washed, graded aggregate coated with a polymer-modified bitumen binder, packaged in a sealed plastic-lined bag. Each bag contains 20 kg of material, enough to fill roughly 0.2 m² of pothole at 50 mm depth.

Why it exists

Traditional pothole repair requires hot mix asphalt — produced at 150 °C, delivered in insulated trucks, laid with a paver. None of that works for a single pothole, in a remote location, in the rain, with one person on site. Asphalt in a Bag was developed to make every one of those repairs a 15-minute job.

Who it's for

  • Local councils responding to pothole reports
  • Civil contractors reinstating utility cuts
  • Property managers maintaining car parks and driveways
  • Homeowners fixing their own driveway

How it works

  1. Sweep the defect clean.
  2. Square the edges.
  3. Pour the mix in.
  4. Compact with a tamper or vehicle wheel.
  5. Open the area to traffic immediately.

Where to get it

Through Road Solutions AUS direct, through national stockists, and through selected Coates Hire outlets across Australia.
